For serious pet owners, pets are part of the family and treated as such. Losing them would be akin to losing a brother or a sister. If the deceased pet was particularly kind and obedient, then it would hurt twice as bad.
That was what Sallie Gregory Hammet felt like when her golden retriever named Charlie recently passed. She needed an outlet to express her sadness that she resorted to writing an obituary for Charlie.
“I’ve always loved writing, and when Charlie passed, it was just so overwhelming that I needed to do something cathartic,” She said.
Here is an excerpt: “He was good at a lot of things, but he was best in unconditional love. He taught everyone he met about loving people, and always seeing the good in everyone.”
“His last days were so happy and will be cherished forever. He left behind his fierce love, which never wavered.”
We are all crying right now for Charlie.
