Japanese Artist Makes Impressive Hand-Cut Octopus Using A Sheet Of Paper

There is a lot of well-done paper art. None has so far been as impressive as Masayo Fukuda’s. For the last 25 years, she has been perfecting the art.
Recently, she completed her latest and probably her most impressive paper art yet. It is an octopus.

She intimated that making paper art every day is her way of handling any stress she may have faced during the day. Her tools of the trade are a matte, a cutter, tant paper, and a good source of light, for anyone who wanted to try their hand at the art.

The octopus is very detailed and could be mistaken for a drawing made with a ballpoint, at first glance. The cutting is on a sheet of white A2 paper.

Every part of the octopus to the last detail can clearly be seen. The piece took Fukuda two months to complete.

In Japan, the art of cutting paper to create art is called Kirigami/Kirie. It came about around 700 AD. The Kirigami pieces have to be made from a single sheet of paper and not more.
