Some Good Out of the Bad as Couple Adopts Strays After Losing Their Dog

A couple from Lithuania in Europe moved to Koh Kood Island in Thailand and took to everything and everyone about it. They went a step further to adopt the Island’s strays, ending up with fifteen of them.

Unfortunately, Manta and Rasa’s ten-year-old dog, Aibo, a boxer, fell ill and died back home. They were heartbroken. This spurred their passion to adopt the strays. They also took it upon themselves to feed the strays. They travel as far as 40 kilometers daily doing this. They got their other dog, Rudis, to join them on the Island when they moved there permanently.

The Island has no vet. Therefore, in the event dogs get sick, they treat them after consulting with vets from other parts of the world. The vets also donate medicine and dog food. The locals bring their dogs for check-up and treatment.

The stray dog population seemed to get out of hand.  With the help of Khon Kaen University and various other organizations, they got around a thousand dogs neutered to control the dog population of the Island.

This task of taking care of the strays is difficult. It requires finances. Donations are therefore appreciated to help them further the course.
