IKEA on Building Customized Bee Homes for Conservation of Bees

World Bee Day is commemorated on May 20. This year, the day was marked in IKEA by the launching of the customized Bee Home. This was done with help from Bakken and Baeck and Tanita Klein, who is a designer.

This will assist anyone from anywhere in the world to download the design and build these customized bee homes.

Bees are under threat of extinction because of modernization and other extenuating circumstances.

It is interesting to note that 90% of all bees are solitary. A solitary bee can pollinate 120 times more than honeybees. All they need is protection from harsh weather where they can safely lay eggs and keep the pollen. They are friendly and do not sting. They also do not manufacture honey.

The three steps are easy to go about. Select the size, style, and placement and download the designs that fit what you want. Send these to your local CNC who will use digital fabrication to put the home together. Once set up, do not bother with it again.

Finally, plant flowers.

Tanita Klein, a designer explained that the goal was to make a perfect home for the bees, that can easily be assembled and looks good in your home.
