Johnny Depp, who filed a libel suit in London, lost. He sued The Sun newspaper for referring to him as a wife-beater. Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, his ex-wife’s previous relationship, were exposed.
British law on libel requires that the plaintiff has to prove that the statements said were untrue. For 12 of the 14 allegations that were against him, he could not prove it. His attorneys are planning on appealing.

Most of his fans are standing by him and giving Heard the cold shoulder. The two exes met when Johnny was 45 and Amber 22. By then, Depp had two kids with Vanessa Paradis, his partner, for a long time.
They married but soon got divorced. When Amber filed for divorce in 2016, she also got a temporary restraining order alleging abuse from Johnny Depp. She received $7 million for the divorce settlement.
Amber also canceled her request for spousal support that was $50K per month.
The divorce was final in 2017. In 2019 Amber was sued in a $50 million defamation suit.
In 2020 the Daily mail released phone recordings, where Amber said she hit Johnny.
Johnny Depp got fired by Warner Bros for being caught in the middle of such a scandal.
